About Us

Welcome to HAB LEARNING, where we provide students with an opportunity to experience hands-on, experiential learning. We use the environment and real-world scenarios to challenge students and help them develop practical skills that can be applied in the real world. Our approach focuses on learning outcomes, with an emphasis on action, reflection, application to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. Our mission is to provide our students with more than just an education; it's a transformative journey. If you are ready to learn, grow and achieve, then this is the place for you.

ACTION  .  REFLECTION  .  APPLICATION

HAB Child

A typical HAB child is curious, active, respectful, compassionate, optimistic and driven. As per their age, the children are given challenges. These are progressive in nature and as a child grows with HAB, so does the challenge level. This gives just the right amount of stretch for the child to initiate some new learning. A child’s sense of ‘I can do this’ increases with each level covered with HAB, thereby setting in a mindset of optimism.

Tool - Outdoors

We understand that the best platform for such learning for the children would be in the outdoors, close to nature, engaged in some high adrenalin adventure activities, with our facilitators helping them join the dots through the learning sessions.

People

The founding team at HAB comes with an experience of over a decade of working in the young adult learning space. While putting HAB together they ensured that the focus was on developing a child’s emotional & social skills while making her/him more self aware. Each program is meticulously designed and delivered by them to ensure this. Their ability to connect with the young minds ensures a greater ‘stickiness’ of the learning.

Learning - Outcomes

Through the HAB programs the children:

  • Develop a higher sense of self awareness

  • Develop some key skills around social and emotional intelligence

  • Learn to create a greater impact through their behaviors

  • Start understanding the dynamics of human relationships

  • Take ownership of their own thoughts and actions

  • Build a higher understanding of the natural world

  • Contribute constructively to the community through meaningful engagements

Method - Experiential

As a team of experiential educators, we at HAB believe that children learn the best when they are physically, mentally and emotionally engaged. They are then in a state of ‘Flow’ and are able to formulate their own learning through insights, observations and experience.  Kurt Hahn’s philosophy for outdoor learning and Kolb’s experiential learning model of ‘Feeling-Watching-Learning-Doing’ became the scaffolding models for the way HAB programs are envisaged, designed & delivered. We further went and embraced Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s ‘FLOW’ to ensure a constant match of a child’s ability to the challenge & learning being offered (to ensure no sense of boredom or overwhelm sets in).

HAB PROCESS

01

Program Selection

HAB understands the requirements and the overall DNA of the school. Based on this a suitable program is designed and presented. This may involve multi-level talks with the school and the respective stakeholders. HAB pedagogy is understood and the right program is selected.

02

Registration

Once the program is selected, HAB starts preparing the participants for the it. Our pre-program team visits the school for further orientation and registration process. The children get a brief on the overall program. They register for the programs individually, which includes a ‘code of conduct’, medical history and indemnity formalities. This needs to be done at least 3 months before the program.

03

Pre Program

Before they embark on the program, the participants need to work in smaller groups and at individual levels towards the program learning. The tasks and scope is clearly defined and each child knows the work that needs to be completed. This is usually done 4-6 weeks before the program.

04

Program Delivery

The participants travel to the designated program venue. At ground zero they participate in the planned activities and facilitation sessions. They infer their own understanding and concretize their learning through sharing, listening and insights. A program duration is typically 3-7 days.

05

POST Program

HAB understands that there still may be open loops that the children are processing in their minds after the program. Keeping this in mind, HAB proposes a post-program interaction with the children at school which is usually an open house for conversations. This is done 4-6 weeks after the program.

06

Culmination

HAB facilitation team puts together a report for the school’s reference along with a few recommendations, and seeks the school’s feedback on the program. These are developmental points for the children that the school may choose to incorporate in its overall curriculum. The program is brought to a closure with this.
